Smilies Themer Toolbar

IMPORTANT: due to my job, I’m now too busy to maintain my plugins.

This plugin has been abandoned!

If you are a developer and would like to fork, feel free to do so (under the GPLv3 license). No need to contact me.

Smilies Themer Toolbar provides a toolbar to easily add custom smilies to comments.

It integrates with Smilies Themer plugin, and therefore requires it.

You can change your smilies theme in your blog, and the toolbar is automagically updated!

Installation

  • Download and install Smilies Themer plugin (required)
  • Download Smilies Themer Toolbar
  • Extract the files in the .zip archive, and upload them (including subfolders) to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  • Enjoy!

Note: if you like the smilies theme in this page, you can download it here.

Theme integration

By default, Smilies Themer Toolbar is placed after the comments form, but if you want to put it in a nicer position, don’t worry, it isn’t that difficult.

Edit your theme and put this code where you want to show the toolbar:

<?php if (function_exists('sm_toolbar_show')) sm_toolbar_show();?>

@Bernd:
Hi πŸ™‚ Can you try these steps?
1) Delete your wp-content/uploads/js_cache/tinymce_something file;
2) Login to your admin area
3) Create a new post, and you should see a new button, like this.

If not, can you please open the admin page with Firefox, open Tools -> Error Console, and look if some error shows up when you reload the page?

Thank you so much! πŸ™‚

Hey thanks 4 the plugin. I am using it for some time now and with the new update the toolbar in the admin area is very handy, though it is showing up only with Firefox and with IE the toolbar is not present. Any idea? πŸ˜‰
Cheers (B) and greetings form Bulgaria πŸ˜›

@MILE:
Your feature request was implemented in the development trunk. You’ll see it in action in the next version.

@Ira:
Unfortunately I haven’t tested it with IE (it really sucks!!!), but I’ll definitely do that ASAP.
However, try to delete your browser cache, it could fix it.

@Bernd:
Can you explain what you mean? πŸ™‚

Bernd means to say that currently this toolbar shows up in Visual Editor of WP Admin Area, could you make this show up in Code view of WP Admin Write post page?

You rock…! Thanks in advance…! (B)

I’m looking forward to the next release then…!! πŸ˜€

Any idea when that is going to be done…?! O:-)

Hi Frasten

Your plugin fits my needs perfectly. On my (test)blog I’d like to use card symbols instead of smilies, so I have created my own set. But I seem to overlook something, cause I only get the bar active on my first commentbox.

Maybe it has to do something with comment and comment-id, I don’t know. Can you help me out a little?

Hey frasten, thanx for a great plugin!

Whenever I press the Smilies icon in the WYSIWYG editor the box that comes up is empty, both in IE and FF2 – any ideas?

Deleted the tinymce_XXX.js and tinymce_XXX.gz in the /wp-content/uploads/js_cache/ dir which only made the icon itself appear.

Hi Frasten,
I already upload and try the plugin,
it works well in the admin’s post but
not working in the comments post.
It’s not click able.
If you can please take a look at my site
and advise me of what is wrong with it.

@all:
I’ve been offline for a long time, I’m sorry.

@MILE:
Download v1.1 above, it integrates with TinyMCEComments O-)

@BaseGuardian:
v1.1 should fix your problem. Can you try it?

@Jannes:
Why do you need more than one comment box in a page? πŸ˜›

@frenjon:
Are you still having that problem? I’ll try to reproduce it… :-/

@MILE:
Download v1.1 above, it integrates with TinyMCEComments

Yes, it does…and it doesn’t…!? What I mean is: it does display the toobar below the comment box and when you click on a smiley it inserts it into the comment box — but only as text…!
Even after the comment has been posted it remains text and is not being transferred into a graphical smiley…!? See here:

Any ideas or suggestions…? Maybe I’m missing something here…?!
(And yes, I _have_ checked the box in the Smilies Themer settings to turn text emoticons into graphical smilies…)

Thanks so far for your effort though…!! πŸ˜€
