Smilies Themer Toolbar

IMPORTANT: due to my job, I’m now too busy to maintain my plugins.

This plugin has been abandoned!

If you are a developer and would like to fork, feel free to do so (under the GPLv3 license). No need to contact me.

Smilies Themer Toolbar provides a toolbar to easily add custom smilies to comments.

It integrates with Smilies Themer plugin, and therefore requires it.

You can change your smilies theme in your blog, and the toolbar is automagically updated!

Installation

  • Download and install Smilies Themer plugin (required)
  • Download Smilies Themer Toolbar
  • Extract the files in the .zip archive, and upload them (including subfolders) to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  • Enjoy!

Note: if you like the smilies theme in this page, you can download it here.

Theme integration

By default, Smilies Themer Toolbar is placed after the comments form, but if you want to put it in a nicer position, don’t worry, it isn’t that difficult.

Edit your theme and put this code where you want to show the toolbar:

<?php if (function_exists('sm_toolbar_show')) sm_toolbar_show();?>

@billyduc:
Hi, actually it is the right behavior of the plugin.
When you click on that icon, a popup shows up, and then you can choose the smileys.

Maybe one day I’ll implement your feature request 🙂

Hello,
I have installed Smilies toolbar and Smilies themer. They work fine with the comments, but when I write a post using the smiley (I use TinyMCE 3.1) in the admin page, the smiley don’t display, there is text instead.

What could be the problem please ?
Thanks.

@Bao:
Do you see text only when you’re editing your post? Or also when it is published?
It is normal to see :) as text when you are editing.

@frasten:
I have found the problem: I used to write the smilies without space before and after the smiley code, and this displays text when the post is published.

Thanks for your support, GREAT PLUGIN :o)

@Bao:
I’m glad it worked 🙂
The “no-spaces” issue is actually a WordPress issue: it will act at the same way also if you disable Smilies Themer Toolbar plugin 🙂

Thanks for an excellent plugin! It works perfect in my blogcomments.

I am also using the DMSGuestbook and I was wondering if there is a way to put the smilie icons in the gusetbook form. When you write the character for the smilies, the icons are shown in the posts, but what I am after is a way to get them “clickable” like they are in the bottom of this form.

Many thanks once again! (Y)
